Summer is a busy time for stationery designers with warm weather weddings and new arrivals in full flow. It is around this time the final few pieces of the stationery package are delivered, often providing couples with a much needed post-matrimonial pick-me-up. And herein lies the joy of the bespoke.
At DDD the aim is to guide couples through the haze of wedding chaos so that they emerge on the other side with a beautiful forever reminder of their day. Handmade stationery allows you to have everything you imagined, but more importantly, everything you didn't. Starting from a simple Save the Date the journey can take you anywhere.
Because of this, I am often approached part-way through a design project by couples who want to develop and expand their stationery package. It is not surprising that throughout the planning experience needs change and new options present themselves. My most recent couple are a glorious example of this. Having designed and produced their invitations, they approached me wanting an injection of fun into their reception. This simple request led us on one of the most enjoyable wedding stationery journeys so far. Design work was adapted into handcrafted entertainment for the guests. The results were further transformed into a memory book and framed 'guest book' which the couple now hang proudly in their home as a constant reminder of the joy felt by their guests.
Although I admit to being a closet fan of high-quality printed stationery, it will never be able to adapt along the way and provide the choice and flexibility of a genuine bespoke service. So for those planning a special event who cherish the personal touch and wish to keep the door to imagination ajar, I would encourage a conversation with a handmade stationery designer. You never know where it may lead.
